For the week ended December 27, 2024, the Colombo Stock Exchange recorded a weekly turnover of Rs. 30.8 billion. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) posted a return of 4.89%, while the S&P SL20 showed a return of 5.56%. As per the previous week ended December 20, the Colombo Stock Exchange recorded a weekly turnover of Rs. 35.7 billion. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) posted a return of 4.26%, while the S&P SL20 showed a return of 4.15%. On Friday too records kept on being set up with the burse closed the week with a day of positive sentiment and increased market activity. Amid the increased participation from retail investors, ASPI closed the day in green at 15,536, gaining 135 points marking a 0.88% increase from the previous day. The stocks in the Banking and Diversified Financial sectors experienced a notable increase, contributing significantly to turnover and overall returns. The most significant contributors towards the positive index were HNB, LOLC, DFCC, RCL, and MELS. Amid multiple off-board transactions, turnover stood at Rs. 9.8 bn, marking an increase of 81.8%, from the monthly average. The Banking sector led the turnover by 46%, followed by the Diversified Financials and Capital Goods sectors jointly contributing 26% of the overall turnover. There was a net foreign inflow of Rs. 4.7 mn.
